Clinical Health Requirements
Clinical Health Requirements
Student health records are reviewed tri-annually by the SSOM Clinical-Requirements department for compliance with Loyola University Chicago policies. If a student is not in compliance with these policies prior to the first day of orientation, they may not be allowed to register.
To track immunizations and other requirements SSOM uses an online system through Castlebranch. Students will use a personal, secure account to upload proof of all immunizations and titers. Please clik HERE to start your Castlebranch account. Students should Choose “Clinical Requirements LG77 Class of 20_” to begin.
All students MUST obtain titers for the following vaccines to show your immunity.
- Measles (rubeola) IgG antibody
- Mumps IgG antibody
- Rubella IgG antibody
- Varicella IgG antibody
- Hepatitis B Surface antibody (Please note that you need the titers AND the proof you have received the vaccines with dates for this item.)
- M2 Students - 2 step TB Skin Test, M1, M3, and M4 Students - Quantiferon Gold
If you are NOT immune to any of the above viruses or the result is equivocal, you will need to have a booster vaccine, then repeat the titer in 4 weeks. Please note that some boosters require a series with waiting periods in between. You also need to show proof of receiving a current TDaP vaccine. TD is not acceptable. If you are under the age of 22 at matriculation, you will also be required to upload proof of Meningococcal vaccine given after your 16th birthday.
Please note that all SSOM students are required to receive a flu vaccines annually. This is offered at no cost when the time comes.
Updated immunization and titer records are expected of all enrolled students. Should one of your vaccines expire, you will need to get a booster. Failure to maintain compliance required for clinical training environments may result in your being withdrawn from educational courses, restricted from clinical areas, and/or summoned by the Dean of Student Affairs for professionalism concerns.
